We're visiting from out of town, and this was a good local place to go. I was expecting just a local pizza joint (since Yelp classifies this as "Pizza"), but this was much more of an Italian restaurant! I was surprised and fairly impressed. In fact, I went there thinking I wanted pizza for dinner, but most people in the restaurant were eating pasta, with a few eating what looked like some kind of stuffed pizza. Nice, friendly, hard-working service - all the way from being greeted at the door to the open view kitchen to the server at the table to the young lady that ran the register. We ordered spaghetti and meatballs and stuffed shells with meat sauce. Everything came with a nice salad (just iceberg lettuce, though) and hot-out-of-the-oven bread (which the server said they made there). It was all pretty good! I was much happier going there than some chain restaurant. The only negative was that it was pretty loud in the dining room - all hard surfaces in the open single-room dining room with a lot of people dining in (which says something about how good it is), with two large parties. It was sometimes hard to hear what my wife was saying right across the table.

Visiting from out of the state... Great food and friendly service! We had the chicken parmigiana and a pepperoni pizza. The two didn't disappoint.

It ain't the Ritz but boy is the food good. If you ask you can get garlic infused olive oil for your bread (baked there fresh) and the price is right for weary travelers. To top it off the people there are so very nice. All in all a very nice experience.

Stopped here because of the other good yelp reviews. Enjoyed the white spinach pizza and lasagne pizza. Our entire group (kids and adults) cleaned it all up! Even the baby helped by finishing off the crusts.

This a very nice find just off purchase parkway, and especially if you get a little tired of the Grand Rivers offerings and are looking for a change. The chef here if from NYC and brings some of that authentic American - Italian flare to the menu. The garlic knots for example, are absolutely delicious with lots of cheese and olive oil don't miss them. The chicken parmesan is quite good and the salads are also excellent. They do of course have pizza and calzones and other offerings but beware there's no alcohol served here. The good news is you can bring your own wine, glasses and opener and enjoy your own favorite wine so no worries. The atmosphere is quite casual, it is family friendly, they have plenty of parking but do be careful to look for the sign for mama d's because it is small and not very well lit. Overall it's a very nice menu well done and well seasoned and I would recommend everyone should give it a try.

Here for some work for three nights and while this area isn't filled with great restaurants and food I really enjoyed my Fettucini Alfredo (with chicken). Great white sauce, healthy portion that I didn't finish, homemade bread was good as well. Definitely will return if/when I'm in the area again...beats any other place I've tried around here hands down.

My gps took me way off the path! Once I arrived, I realized that had actually eaten here years ago. Here for lunch and found a decent list of lunch specials around the $7 range. I asked the waitress for suggestions. I went with her first recommendation, Chicken Oreganata. It was okay. Too bland for me but I doctored it up with some parm and salt. The biggest disappointment was the vegetables in the dish were notably purchased frozen. The lunch special came with a salad (mediocre) and fresh, hot bread (the best surprise of the visit). Service wasn't the best as the waitress often passed but infrequently checked on me. My biggest complaint is that they only offer bottled water and fail to tell you this when you order water. Cost $1 and then as many additional bottles as you like. Doesn't make my list of places to return to.

A place that has this good of food deserves a review before you leave. The stuffed mushrooms were great, the grilled pork chops where so good, you don't want to swallow, even the meatloaf was good. Come hungry because the portions are healthy. What a gem of a place.

Randa was very nice. This place received two stars due to her attentiveness. The meatloaf was overly salty as was the gravy. My blood pressure regrets this visit.

So, came in to eat tonight (2/12/2014) and had the pasta mama d's and added shrimp. The pasta was on sale for 8.99 as the special but at regular price it was 11.99. I see on the receipt that the pasta was 24.99. I asked at the register if that was correct and the lady checked with a gentleman and he confirmed the price. So your telling me that it cost $13 or $15 to add the 6 to 9 shrimp depending on which original pasta price you choose? So we are talking $2 a shrimp? That is absurd. Also, the one server yelling at the other across the dining room for trying to steal her table was a nice touch to our peaceful yet overpriced valentine's dinner.

Wow, this place was amazing. I am down visiting family and when we pulled up, I didn't have high expectations...Being from Chicago and going to a LOT of Italian restaurants up there, I figured this would be mediocre at best...WOW WAS I WRONG! Everything was delicious! Started with the fried ravioli which were perfectly cooked and then went on to entrees ranging from chicken marsala, fettuccine alfredo, to pizza. I can honestly say, I have never had a better chicken marsala -- my mouth is salivating right now thinking about it. The alfredo was perfect -- nice balance of flavors and not too heavy/gloppy like it can be sometimes. And the pizza was very good too. A thin crust that held up to the ingredients and also wasn't covered in a ton of sauce with fresh sausage as a topping. So good...my wife and I keep trying to talk everyone into going back there for dinner. :)

Hey, the red sauce Sicilian is not to be missed either. Interesting sweet sauce at the start with a wonderful heat at the finish. Crispy, oily crust that I found fabulous but my Beloved found a tad soggy. I blame the wet veggies she wanted. Yep, I didn't get what I expected, but I got what I wanted.

I went here because I was told it was great food. I ordered what I believe they consider to be shrimp scampi. It was terrible not only could I tell the pasta had been cooked earlier that day and reheated with this terrible white sauce. Shrimp were breaded and soggy. When I told the waitress it wasn't good I got nothing. My husband and I paid $40 for a terrible meal I took 2 bites of. I would give 0 stars if possible NEVER going back!

Coming back from Eddyville (where there is nothing to eat sadly) I recalled a coworker bragging about this place. So we got off at Calvert City and got a pie. We had garlic knots as an appetizer, which were smaller than I expected, but they were also inexpensive. So it's not really a complaint. They were good with some fresh herbs tossed over them (oregano or basil). Girlfriend & I got a supreme, pizza was good, toppings were overlapping, sauce was a little sweet, crust was tasty. Not a complaint about the trip.

By far one if the better Italian places I've eaten at! The service is great and the food is absolutely wonderful! Don't let the small building fool you, this place is great.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
